SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont school district has cancelled classes because of a threat against its high school.
Springfield School District Superintendent Zach McLaughlin said in a Facebook post that officials decided to cancel all classes Thursday after the district couldn’t complete a satisfactory risk assessment of a threat they became aware of Wednesday.
McLaughlin addressed an earlier threat in a Nov. 5 post. He said the New Hampshire authorities notified Springfield police about a “potential online threat” made over the weekend. Administrators met with the student and their family before concluding that the threatening statement didn’t present a “real danger to the school community.”
It’s unclear if schools will be open Friday.
