MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department has released a new hunting app to help determine conditions throughout the state.

WCAX-TV reports the mobile app includes features that allow hunters to record the time spent hunting and the number of deer, moose, bears or other wildlife they encounter during November rifle season. The app is free to users and doesn’t require cell service.

Officials plan to use the “Hunter Effort Survey” to better manage wildlife species in the state.
