OPINION:
Well, the 2018 midterms are over and once again the voters have shown how much they appreciate a hard-working president who has turned in an amazing performance on their behalf — in spite of constant attacks from a biased mainstream media and an opposition party that both despise the ground he walks on. They hate him because first, he defeated Hillary Clinton, second, he is not a part of their establishment, and third, he is making great strides to undo the horrible damage the Democratic-socialist agenda had done to this country.
The economy is booming again. Jobs are being created at a record pace. Lousy, harmful trade deals have been re-negotiated. A real effort is finally being made to control immigration. And much more. All this has been accomplished in just this two two years. So what does an appreciative electorate do for a president like that? They give him a Congress that Marx and Engels would be proud of.
I don’t know what voters who put the “resisters” back in the congressional majority expect over these next two years, but they obviously don’t want the Trump agenda to strengthen America economically, socially, morally and militarily to continue. What they will get is an impeachment attempt.
They remind me of the words Judge Percy Mettrick spoke to sheriff Will Kane in “High Noon”: “There’s no time for a lesson in civics, my boy. In the 5th century B.C., the citizens of Athens, having suffered grievously under a tyrant, managed to depose and banish him. However, when he returned after some years, with an army of mercenaries, those same citizens not only opened the gates to him, but stood by while he executed members of the legal government.”
Well, at least the Senate stayed majority Republican and that’s sure to be an asset as long as it doesn’t turn on the president.
A man as wealthy as Donald Trump doesn’t need to put himself in the situation he’s in. Can anyone think of a reason why he’s doing it? I can.
