ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputy shot and wounded an armed robbery suspect who was allegedly trying to carjack someone.

Sheriff’s officials say the incident occurred Wednesday night following a pursuit as deputies responded to armed robberies of a store and a gas station in the Albuquerque area.

According to officials, two of three suspects were caught when their car crashed and the third suspect was shot by a deputy as the suspect allegedly tried to steal a vehicle to get away.

The wounded suspect is expected to survive.
