BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - Nurses at the Brattleboro Retreat have accepted a contract agreement with the psychiatric hospital.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports the United Nurses and Allied Professionals and hospital said in a joint release Tuesday they had reached a one-year agreement. Provisions include a 3 percent wage increases for staffers. Under the contract, mental health professionals will start at $15 an hour.

Retreat officials believe the new wage scale will allow the hospital to “retain and attract much needed new front line staff.”

The union and the hospital had previously clashed over schedule changes that came in the middle of contract negotiations.
