CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Cheyenne City Council has approved spending $600,000 to help land a new airline to bring commercial air service back to the city.
The money approved on an 8-0 vote Tuesday night would be combined with county, state, federal and private money to form a “minimum revenue guarantee” designed to help an airline avoid losing too much money when it takes a chance on a new market.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that the county is expected to pledge up to the same amount in the coming weeks. The Cheyenne Airport Board has $200,000 in federal money and plans to apply for $580,000 more from the state.
The city has been without regular commercial air service since Great Lakes shut down in March.
