MILFORD, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts police officer has been injured in an early morning car crash with a suspected impaired driver.
Milford police say the crash between the marked cruiser and the Lexus sedan occurred at about 2 a.m. Thursday.
Video and images from the scene showed extensive damage to both vehicles.
Police say Officer Steven Sousa was taken to the hospital with a concussion and a knee injury but has since been released and is expected to recover.
The other driver, 22-year-old Emily Cicconi, of Milford, faces charges including operating under the influence of drugs and alcohol and failing to stop for a flashing red light. She faces arraignment Thursday and it’s unclear if she has a lawyer.
Neither she nor a 25-year-old man in her car required hospitalization.
