OPINION:
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner once represented a chance for journalists on both sides of the aisle to come together, leave the contention at home and laugh with each other. No more.
Most Americans looked upon the comedy performance of Michelle Wolf at the WHCD and saw little humor in her words. In fact, for many it confirmed a sadness in their hearts that our country has changed so much for the worse. We have become so defiled with filthy words, jokes and accusations that we no longer recognize who we once were. Our society has become dirty.
At one time, not so very long ago, having the proud title of journalist was honorable and sought after. Now we see so much bias and outright falsehoods in so much of the reporting in our papers and on TV that there seems to be no honor in it anymore.
Journalists have lost the trust of the people. We have been taught to take everything with a grain of salt.
Sadly, these so-called journalists and their editors have inflicted a great bruise on our First Amendment.
