COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (AP) - A new equestrian arena dedicated to helping veterans process trauma has been named after late Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.
News outlets report the Saratoga WarHorse Foundation celebrated the opening of the 9,600-square-foot (892-sq. meter) Kevin Kamenetz Arena at the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park in Cockeysville. The center will double the program capacity for the nonprofit, which has facilities in Saratoga Springs, New York, and Aiken, South Carolina.
Saratoga WarHorse’s program has veterans bond and communicate with thoroughbred who have retired from racing.
Baltimore County Council Chair Julian E. Jones says the county is also pursuing other programming.
Kamenetz’s widow, Jill, and son, Karson, attended Sunday’s dedication. They said the gubernatorial candidate, who died May 10, loved horses and veterans.
