GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina man is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle after his SUV hit a farm tractor on a state highway.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol told local news outlets 47-year-old Carlton Jackson of Pinetown is also charged with failure to reduce speed after his vehicle crashed into the rear of the tractor on N.C. Highway 11 north of Greenville. Both vehicles were headed south when the accident occurred.

Troopers say 72-year-old Manga Wooten of Greenville died in Tuesday’s crash.

WITN in Greenville reports a judge has set a $1,500 bond for Jackson, who said he would represent himself in the case.
