PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a man has been arrested in connection with the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in Phoenix last weekend.

Phoenix police say 22-year-old Ronald Hayes turned himself in Tuesday and was booked into jail on one count of leaving the scene of a fatal collision.

Witnesses say 46-year-old Isela Ortega was struck Sunday night on West Van Buren Street by a car that didn’t remain on the scene.

Police say Ortega was pronounced dead by Phoenix Fire Department paramedics.

Investigators got a description of the car and developed probable cause naming Hayes as a suspect in the case.

It was unclear Tuesday night if Hayes has legal representation yet.
