CALEDONIA, Miss. (AP) - A man being considered for the driver’s education job at a Mississippi high school has been charged with careless driving and refusing to take a test for driving under the influence.
News outlets report 44-year-old David King is the top candidate for the position of driver’s ed teacher and head football coach at Caledonia High School. King is currently the assistant football coach and a driver’s ed teacher at Biloxi High School.
King was arrested in March. He has pleaded not guilty, and a trial is set for May 22.
County Superintendent Lynn Wright says the misdemeanor charges wouldn’t necessarily eliminate King from consideration.
