STOUGHTON, Mass. (AP) - Relatives say the couple who died when their vehicle slammed into a tree in Massachusetts this week were engaged.

Police on Wednesday identified the victims of the Tuesday night crash in Stoughton as 38-year-old Angie Goodrich, of Stoughton, and 48-year-old Michael Luddington, of Kingston.

Monica Goodrich says she was planning on going dress shopping with her sister-in-law Wednesday. Instead, the family is heading to a funeral.

The Enterprise reports that police are still investigating what led to the crash that mangled their car and left behind debris. No details have been released, but witnesses say a second car sped off after Luddington’s pickup truck hit the tree.

Neighbors described hearing the crash and jumping into action to try and save the couple, but they were already dead.
