WASHINGTON (AP) - Anyone who has gone “Off-Roading in DC” or told a friend “Traffic? Nah Brah.” and opted for the subway can now buy T-shirts emblazoned with those words at a new store in the U.S. capital.
From “Foggy Bottom” yoga pants to maps on mugs, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority says Wednesday’s grand opening of the M Shop will offer these and other Metro-branded souvenirs. The shop window inside Metro Center Station is open weekdays.
WMATA General Manager and CEO Paul J. Wiedefeld says it’s a potential revenue source for Metro’s operations. But, WUSA-TV reports mixed reactions to the store include sarcastic social media posts and frustrations about what WMATA should be doing instead.
Metro’s more than a decade of problems have included smoke-filled tunnels, technical failures, delays and more.
