MOREAU, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York high school has raised more than $830,000 through its annual 24-hour dance marathon.
The 41st South High Marathon Dance at South Glens Falls High School in Moreau (maw-ROH’) ran Saturday through Sunday with about 800 students dancing around the clock. The Post-Star reports last night’s funds bring the total raised since the annual event began in 1978 to more than $6 million.
In total, the marathon raised $831,191 in support of 42 recipients - beating out last year’s total of $823,614.
Among those selected for donations this year are 14 area organizations like “Woofs for Warriors,” which helps pair veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder with rescue dogs.
