Academy Awards host Jimmy Kimmel mocked President Trump during Sunday’s show, but the president had the last laugh.
Mr. Trump took a jab Tuesday at the ABC telecast’s ratings, which registered an initial 18.9 percent same-day household share, which would be an all-time low for the high-profile Hollywood awards show.
“Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY. Problem is, we don’t have Stars anymore—except your President (just kidding, of course)!” tweeted the president.

During the opening monologue, Mr. Kimmel made a joke about the president and Best Picture nominee “Get Out,” saying, “None other than President Trump called ’Get Out’ the best first-three-quarters-of-a-movie this year.”
The comedian also joked that the movie “Call Me By Your Name,” about a romance between a 17-year-old boy and an adult male, was made to “upset [Vice President] Mike Pence.”
This year’s telecast, the 90th Academy Awards, registered a dramatic 19 percent drop from last year’s program. Before this year, the lowest-rated Oscars show came in 2008, drawing a 20.9 percent audience share.
