MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say an early-morning house fire has killed one child and two women in Tennessee.

Memphis Fire Department Lt. Wayne Cooke said in a news release that two other children were critically injured in the Thursday fire. The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. and brought under control around a half-hour later.

All five victims were taken to hospitals, where three later died. The victims’ identities have not been released, and it’s unclear whether they were related.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It has not been determined if the home had a working smoke alarm.

Cooke says the deaths have disturbed fire crews.
