MARSHALL, N.Y. (AP) - Fire officials in upstate New York are investigating a house fire that killed a 69-year-old woman.

Firefighters responded to the Marshall home Sunday morning. Authorities say Mary Lou Buschor’s relatives tried unsuccessfully to rescue the woman, and firefighters couldn’t enter the home because it was fully consumed by flames.

Buschor was later pronounced dead at the scene of the fire in Oneida County.

Investigators told WKTV in Utica that the fire started on the first floor. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
