CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Forecasters say a late winter storm is expected to bring significant snowfall to parts of West Virginia this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning or watch for more than half of West Virginia’s 55 counties starting early Tuesday. Snowfall amounts of 6 inches (15 centimeters) or more are possible.

Some parts of the state are expected to receive a mix of rain, sleet and snow before changing to heavy, wet snow Tuesday night. The weather service says power outages could occur where the heaviest amounts fall.
