SUFFOLK, Va. (AP) - A police officer in Virginia received minor injuries after his vehicle was struck by another vehicle while he was providing assistance to a stranded motorist.

Police said the accident happened Sunday morning in Suffolk. They said the officer’s vehicle had its emergency equipment activated when it was hit by the other vehicle. The driver was not injured, but was arrested for driving under the influence.

Police did not immediately release any other details.
