NEW YORK (AP) - Family and friends of six construction workers killed in a crane collapse 10 years ago have gathered in New York to mark the anniversary.
The Rev. Brian Jordan spoke at the Thursday event, saying the gathered people were there to show how the victims lived and loved the people in their lives. The Daily News reports the 2008 crane collapse killed seven and injured 24 people.
The construction workers killed in the collapse - Wayne Bleidner, Anthony Mazza, Santy Gallone, Brad Cohen, Clifford Canzona and Aaron Stephens - were honored at the event.
The crane collapsed onto a brownstone after a steel collar and support strap failed.
The families of the six construction workers reached a settlement with the city in 2012.
