AAU basketball coach in Iowa arrested on child pornography charge

A youth basketball coach from Iowa was arrested and charged with knowingly transporting child pornography, the Associated Press reports.

Greg Stephen confessed to recording three adolescent boys naked in a hotel room in Illinois without their knowledge, a criminal complaint alleges. Investigators also apparently found a recording device of Stephen’s with a video clip of an underage boy undressing in a bathroom. 

Stephen reportedly told investigators that the videos were made to observe the players’ “growth and development” and he did not make any sexual advances toward them or anyone.

Stephen, 42, co-founded the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) club Iowa Barnstormers. The AAU removed Stephen as coach of the team last month when police began investigating the situation.
