DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina are looking for a speeding driver who smashed into a dozen cemetery headstones after losing control of the car.

The Charlotte Observer reports Davidson police said officers pursued the car on Wednesday before losing sight of it and giving up the chase. It was reported that the car was traveling at 50 mph, o twice the posted speed limit.

On Thursday, Davidson College Campus Police found the car damaged and abandoned. An hour later, campus police found the damaged headstones in the Christian Aid Society cemetery, located on the same road where the car was found.
