EAST FAIRVIEW, N.D. (AP) - A suspicious device found during a traffic stop in McKenzie County prompted the shutdown of a state highway for several hours.

The sheriff’s office says a deputy who stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near East Fairview about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday found the device. Authorities didn’t specify what it was.

The sheriff’s office called in the Minot Police Department’s bomb squad, which detonated the device. State Highway 58 was shut down and traffic detoured until about 10:15 p.m.

There was no immediate word on whether any arrests were made.
