BOSTON (AP) - The suspect in a fatal hit-and-run in Boston who was arrested after giving a TV station a detailed account of what happened has been held on $10,000 bail.

Phocian Fitts pleaded not guilty Thursday to vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident in connection with the death Wednesday of an 80-year-old man who was walking across a street in the Allston neighborhood.

The 23-year-old Fitts was questioned by police but released after refusing to cooperate.

He was arrested later Wednesday after he told WFXT-TV he was listening to music and “driving too quick” through a green light when he saw the victim and beeped. He also said he’s not a “stone-cold killer” and fled because he was scared.

The victim was identified in court documents as Theodore Schwalb.
