For eight years the rights of Americans were subjugated to the politically correct, ever-changing morals of the Obama administration. Absurd changes occurred, including permitting men to use women’s restrooms if they were undecided about their gender on a given day. Even basic freedoms, once accorded to people of faith, were challenged. Who could forget the battle incurred on the Catholic charity Little Sisters of the Poor, as they fought President Obama’s mandate to provide birth control to employees?

The case of Christian baker Jack Phillips was especially noteworthy. His decision not to serve a same-sex marriage was portrayed as religious bigotry, when it was actually just a matter of religious conviction. President John F. Kennedy once said, “Religious freedom has no significance unless it is accompanied by conviction.” Words like conviction became less important during Mr. Obama’s liberalized tenure.

Under Mr. Trump rational thinking, without regard to the whims of extremists in our midst, is again occurring. The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of Mr. Phillips is evidence of this shift.

Thank you, Mr. Trump, for creating an environment where our First Amendment rights are once again acknowledged.
