CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - A St. Louis man has been charged with crashing head-on into another vehicle and killing the driver while high on morphine and fentanyl.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 36-year-old Chad Cooper was charged Wednesday in St. Louis County Circuit Court with four felonies in the July 2017 crash that killed 52-year-old Regina Jones. Cooper’s SUV also hit another vehicle, causing minor injuries to its driver. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.

Charges say police found a syringe containing fentanyl and morphine on the floorboard of Cooper’s vehicle. Investigators also noticed red marks and scars on Cooper’s right arm, which authorities said were consistent with injecting drugs.

Cooper’s criminal history in Missouri includes drug possession and driving on a revoked license.
