LOMITA, Calif. (AP) - A man barricaded inside a vehicle fatally shot himself despite efforts by Los Angeles County crisis negotiators to get him to surrender.
The Sheriff’s Department says deputies were called to a Lomita neighborhood late Tuesday by a woman who said she had a restraining order against a man sitting in a vehicle in her driveway.
As deputies arrived, the man drove away and went to his residence but stayed inside his vehicle.
The man displayed a firearm when the deputies tried to contact him and they summoned assistance.
Despite several hours of efforts by crisis negotiators the man shot himself and he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
