ATLANTA (AP) - A contractor who was hit by a train while working on the tracks of Atlanta’s transit rail system is critically injured.

Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority spokeswoman Stephany Fisher tells news outlets that the contractor was in a work vehicle on the rails near Medical Center Station when he was hit Sunday night. The train was northbound on MARTA’s red line.

No injuries were reported among passengers. Rail service was suspended between Buckhead and North Springs station, and a bus bridge was established. Train service was re-established by the time the transit system opened Monday morning.

The contractor’s name has not been released.
