CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire authorities are reminding boaters to stay dry this weekend.
Marine Patrol officers are out in force for enhanced patrols this weekend as part of a national effort called Operation Dry Water.
The goal is to reduce alcohol- and drug-related accidents and fatalities. Last year, the 628 participating local, state and federal agencies made 518 boating-under-the-influence arrests and issued more than 33,000 warnings and citations.
The U.S. Coast Guard says alcohol is the primary known contributing factor in recreational boater deaths.
