WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) - West Fargo officials say an investigation is ongoing after a child drowned in a retention pond.

Officials say the child’s body was recovered Friday evening after being located by divers. West Fargo Fire Department responded to the drowning call, attempting a rescue with information from bystanders.

The department sent four rescue swimmers into the water, but officials were unable to immediately find the child. Valley Water Rescue divers eventually used a sonar water drone to find the victim.

Officials say details about the victim won’t be released.
