HARTLAND, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a 36-year-old woman is dead following a crash on Interstate 91 in Hartland.
The northbound lane of the interstate was closed after the crash, reported about 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police say a southbound truck crossed the median and collided head-on with a car. The driver of the car, Laura McNaughton of Perkinsville, Vermont, was declared dead at the scene of the crash.
McNaughton’s 8-year-old child, Isaac McNaughton, suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the truck and two children in that vehicle were also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the Hartland crash remains under investigation, but police say there were a series of crashes around the state Thursday that were linked to heavy rains.
