Driver killed after car strikes tree

SHELBURNE, Vt. (AP) - Police say a Vermont man was killed when his car struck a tree early Wednesday.

Authorities say the crash happened around 3 a.m. in Shelburne. The car’s only occupant, 23-year-old Christian Maglaris, of Hinesburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say his car traveled off the road and hit a tree. An investigation is ongoing, but police believe speed played a role in the crash.
