RENO, Nev. (AP) - The superintendent for Reno-area schools is recommending a new academic calendar with a shorter winter break, but a longer summer break.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Washoe County School District Superintendent Traci Davis’ recommendation comes a month after the district asked parents, students, community members and staff for feedback on its academic calendar.
Davis’ proposed calendar includes a break in October and two-week breaks in the winter and spring. School would start on Aug. 13 and end on June 5.
Another option suggests removing the fall break, reducing the winter break and starting school on Sept. 3.
All calendar options will be discussed at the school board’s meeting on Tuesday.
