CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Bureau of Land Management has released the final environmental impact statement for a proposed natural gas project in western Wyoming.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports that a final decision on whether to approve the project is expected in 30 days.
Jonah Energy is proposing to drill 3,500 new wells over a 10-year period in the Green River Basin south of Pinedale. The project would generate more than 900 jobs during development and about $1.1 billion in royalty revenue for Wyoming.
The project area is adjacent to the already established Jonah and Pinedale gas fields.
The project has drawn opposition from conservationists who are concerned about sage grouse that inhabit the area.
