FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man convicted of drunken driving and leaving the scene of a deadly crash has been sentenced to up to six years in prison.
Michael Hinds, of Norton, was found guilty last week in connection with a 2015 crash in Mansfield that killed 37-year-old Jarrad Aronne.
He was acquitted of manslaughter and motor vehicle homicide.
Prosecutors say the 70-year-old Hinds cut Aronne off, but Hinds’ attorney says Aronne was at fault and his client fled because he thought the other driver was chasing him.
The Sun Chronicle reports that Hinds was sentenced Wednesday to four to six years in prison. He has already served two years in jail and will be eligible for parole in about a year.
