GARY, Ind. (AP) - A city in northwestern Indiana is allowing the public to report certain crimes via the internet.
The (Northwest Indiana) Times says the Gary Police Department’s online feature should be used for non-emergency situations within the city limits.
The Citizens Online Police Reporting System can be used to report battery, intimidation, lost property, telephone harassment, theft, threats and vandalism.
Reports filed through the online system will be reviewed to determine whether further investigation is needed. Police say 911 still should be used for emergencies.
