FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Family and friends gathered in northern Colorado to remember a 17-year-old boy who is still missing after a boogie boarding accident off the Oregon Coast.
Carol MacLeod told a group of about 150 in Fort Collins on Wednesday afternoon that her son, Samuel Allen, “had a pure soul,” was gaining confidence and was “becoming a wonderful young man.”
Investigators say Samuel’s father, 50-year-old Robert Joseph Allen, drowned after he jumped into the ocean to try to rescue his son on June 6. The teen is presumed dead.
The Coloradoan reports the father taught vocational and transitional skills to students with educational disabilities at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins. Samuel was a student at Rocky Mountain High School.
