JOHNSON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont utility is urging customers to conserve energy Monday when demand for electricity is expected to spike due to high temperatures across New England.
Forecasters say temperatures could exceed 90 degrees. Humidity will be very high as well, making it feel much like triple-digit heat in much of the region.
Vermont Electric Cooperative is asking customers to conserve power between the hours of 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. by turning off unnecessary lights, delaying the use of dishwashers, washing machines and other major appliances and reducing the use of air conditioning.
