HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Marshall University in West Virginia has broken ground for its new school of pharmacy and graduate student housing complex.

The facilities will be located on the Fairfield Campus of the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington.

The new school will house research, instructional, communal and administrative areas. The graduate housing project will include 200 units for apartment-style living and will accommodate pharmacy and medical students as well as resident physicians.

School of Medicine Dean Joseph Shapiro said in a news release from the university that a more cohesive health sciences campus will benefit students and also boost the university’s research component.

The new complex is expected to be completed in August 2019.
