EVANSTON, Wyo. (AP) - A lawsuit challenges a new policy allowing teachers and other trained employees in a western Wyoming school district to carry guns on campus.
The lawsuit against Uinta County School District No. 1 contests the policy on procedural grounds.
Monica Vozakis and Timothy Beppler claim the district failed to comply with the Wyoming Administrative Procedure Act. They say the act requires school boards to provide at least 45 days of advance notice before deciding on policy changes.
Their lawsuit says the March vote to approve the guns-in-school policy happened without the required formal notice and less than three weeks after the board first considered the policy.
Superintendent Ryan Thomas declined comment to the Casper Star-Tribune other than to say the district looks forward to having the case heard in court.
