HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts police are investigating after a middle school student reportedly attacked a teacher with a screwdriver.

Westernmassnews.com reports that William R. Peck Middle School in Holyoke went into a brief lockdown Wednesday when the 11-year-old boy allegedly attacked the male teacher.

Lt. Michael McCoy said the screwdriver grazed the teacher’s neck and he was treated at the scene by the school nurse.



The boy ran from the school after the attack. Police have contacted his mother.

No names were released.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no word yet on whether the boy will be charged.
