MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Authorities say the investigation into a fatal accident on a central North Dakota lake could take some time to complete.
The Minot Daily News reports that 10-year-old Haley Sundsbak, of Des Lacs, died from injuries suffered from a collision while she and another girl were on an inner tube being pulled by a boat. The inner tube was struck by an uncontrolled Jet Ski whose operator had been thrown from the watercraft a short time earlier. The other girl remains hospitalzed.
The accident happened last weekend on Strawberry Lake in McLean County.
McLean County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Rick Richard says investigators are doing “mechanical and technical” analysis of the Jet Ski, along with other detective work that is “very time consuming.” He says there’s no timetable for finishing the investigation.
