SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (AP) - State officials plan to reopen bids for a resort along Lake Shelbyville in central Illinois.

A Department of Natural Resources spokesman tells The News-Gazette there was only one bid during an earlier round. Ed Cross didn’t offer a timeline but says Eagle Creek “remains on our radar.”

The state-owned resort has been closed since 2009 because of financial problems and mold. A 2016 report estimated it would cost $17.8 million to replace or repair the buildings. The report recommended demolition at Eagle Creek State Recreation Area.

The resort had 138 rooms, a conference center, pools and a golf course. Golf still is available.
