ISLIP TERRACE, N.Y. (AP) - A Rhode Island man has been struck and killed by a vehicle while trying to cross a suburban New York highway.
Long Island police say 32-year-old Julio Resto was hit by a 2002 Toyota around 4:45 a.m. Saturday on Sunrise Highway in Islip Terrace.
The 54-year-old driver was taken to a hospital for evaluation. His vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Records show Resto lived in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
