HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - An abandoned building partially collapsed in Hartford, forcing some nearby residents to evacuate from their homes.
Authorities say no one was injured when the vacant building’s third and fourth floors collapsed onto second floor on Thursday. Deputy Fire Chief James York says the long-vacant building had a hole in the roof that let in rain, which likely weakened the structure.
The Hartford Courant reports that dozens of nearby apartments and businesses were evacuated. Fire officials told nearby residents that they could be let back in their homes in a day or two.
