PARCHMAN, Miss. (AP) - Administrators are adding up the cost of storm damage at one of Mississippi’s largest prisons.

The Department of Corrections says in a news release Wednesday that several buildings are in need of repair at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.

Storms swept through the Delta on Saturday, toppling power poles and knocking out electricity at the prison for about three or four hours. Power had been restored in most of the prison buildings by Wednesday.

The news release says no inmates were evacuated, but 111 of them were moved from one building to another and a tarp was put on the roof of the damaged unit they left.
