OPINION:
Having U.S. Supreme Court justices, whether Democratic or Republican, sit on the bench for life is far too long. Usually only kings or dictators get to stay anywhere for that much time.
Why not make the appointment of a Supreme Court justice 15 years, to give other justices an opportunity to be on the court in order to provide it with more diversity, political equality and fresh views?
A justice in there for life may become hopelessly out-of-touch with current societal views, particularly in a rapidly changing society.
Supreme Court justice is far too important a position to be given a lifetime appointment. The person in that position decides critical issues concerning race, women, marriage, business and political elections.
The United States disdains business monopolies in our country, yet Republicans have held the majority in the U.S. Supreme Court for nearly 50 years.
