PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - Three tall ships have made their way to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, for a four-day festival celebrating maritime history.

The three-masted Oliver Hazard Perry, the schooner Harvey Gamage, and the schooner Roseway traveled up the Piscataqua River on Wednesday to the Memorial Bridge for the “parade of sail.”

The “Sail Portsmouth” festival officially starts Thursday. There will be deck tours, daytime and sunset cruises, educational exhibits, music, and food. One ship will sail to Boston Harbor.

Proceeds go to the Piscataqua Maritime Commission’s Sea Challenge program, which gives teenagers the opportunity to experience sail training on a tall ship each summer.
