Trump: I’m ‘very concerned’ about ongoing Russian meddling

President Trump Tuesday said he is worried about continued Russian interference with U.S. elections.

Mr. Trump suggested that new Russian meddling would benefit Democrats, “based on the fact that no President has been tougher on Russia than me.”

I’m very concerned that Russia will be fighting very hard to have an impact on the upcoming Election. Based on the fact that no President has been tougher on Russia than me, they will be pushing very hard for the Democrats. They definitely don’t want Trump!

Mr. Trump faced harsh criticism for suggesting at the Helsinki summit that he didn’t believe Russia was responsible for interfering with the U.S. 2016 elections, contrary to the findings of the U.S. intelligence community.

The president held a press conference after the summit to clarify that he meant to use a double negative to affirm his belief in Russian meddling.

Mr. Trump surprised many by inviting President Putin to visit the White House in the fall, despite the ongoing threat of Russian cyberattacks on the U.S.
